This is a short (eight-question) test in logical thinking and pattern recognition, modelled after Raven's Progressive Matrices. Like Raven's, the subject taking the test is presented with a matrix (in our case, always 3x3) of bits in a pattern. One bit, in the lower right corner, is always missing. The test-taker is to mark the bit among those displayed in the two rows beneath the matrix that fits the pattern, of which there is always exactly one. Several of the problems presented here, as a warning, are tougher than any of John Raven's originals, and concern rather more intricate and subtle patterns.
Marking the correct answer will allow you to proceed, while marking an incorrect answer will prompt the test to indicate both your failure and the correct answer. You will be given the opportunity after mis-marking an answer to retry, with the presentation of the pattern superficially altered and a new array of candidate completions offered below the matrix presentation. No score is recorded or intended; success is constituted by eventual correct answers in each problem, and failure by inability to so complete the test.
